I am a public historian and Jewish professional with interests at the intersections of religion and identity, history, bridge-building and storytelling. I graduated from NYU's Gallatin School of Individualized Study with a concentration in Food Systems and Public Policy and in a past life went by "Farmer Margaret" at a public elementary school. Since then, I have worn the hats of baker, teacher, oral historian, and non-profit professional. My scholarship spans the Jewish South, critical food studies, and the history and memory of the civil rights movement. I currently work in Jewish community relations, and I am generally excited to engage in conversations about the complexities of American Jewish life.
I am from the Northeast, but am living in Birmingham for the second time, with my husband and toddler.
